Schwarzbubenland
The Pearl of Northwestern Switzerland
The Schwarzbubenland consists of the districts of Dorneck and Thierstein and serves as Basel’s local recreational area. It is also known as “the pearl of northwestern Switzerland,” as its enchanting natural landscape features hills, gorges, and valleys. The Schwarzbubenland can be explored in a truly memorable way on foot, by bicycle, or by e-bike.
The 23 municipalities are home to numerous museums, galleries, and theaters that are well worth a visit. A trip to the Schwarzbubenland can be rounded off with a culinary treat at one of the many rural mountain inns or restaurants. The Schwarzbubenland is also known for its castles, ruins, and monasteries, some of which are still actively operated or used today. Spending a night playing the role of a castle maiden or being pampered at one of the family-run bed-and-breakfasts is an unforgettable experience.
