    The3-Castle Hikein Thal Nature Park combines nature exploration with medieval history. On this approximately 15-kilometer hike, visitors discover three impressive castle ruins: Alt-Falkenstein, Alt-Bechburg, and Neu-Falkenstein.

    Alt-Falkenstein towers over the “Klus” and now houses a museum with fascinating exhibitions on regional history. The ruins of Alt-Bechburg near Holderbank, built around 1050, offer a sweeping view of the Augstbach Valley. Neu-Falkenstein near Balsthal, likely built in the 12th century, invites visitors to linger with its imposing tower and picnic areas. All castles are open to the public at any time.
