Dorneck Ruins

Ceramic artifacts suggest that the first fortress already existed as early as 1050. The great Basel earthquake of 1356 severely damaged the fortifications. However, they were impressively rebuilt. With a length of 100 meters, the Dorneck ruins are among the largest in northwestern Switzerland.
An iron staircase leads up to the massive rampart, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view.
The castle courtyard and the surrounding area offer plenty of opportunities for picnics, and there is a restaurant of the same name in the former castle courtyard.
