The Canton of the Regions as a Tourist Destination

It’s no coincidence that the canton of Solothurn is known as the “Canton of Regions.” Its fragmented borders and the Jura Mountains—which completely separate two districts from the rest of the canton—promise one thing above all else from a tourism perspective: a seemingly inexhaustible diversity of culture and nature. This provides a wide range of opportunities for the team at Solothurn Tourism (KST), whose mission is to promote our beautiful canton.

Under a service agreement with the Canton of Solothurn, the Canton of Solothurn Tourism Association is tasked with safeguarding and promoting the canton’s tourism interests. Since the 2021 fiscal year, all cantonal regions have been represented within the Canton of Solothurn Tourism Association. In addition to the existing regions of Solothurn, Olten, Schwarzbubenland, and Thal Nature Park, the association now also includes Grenchen, Bucheggberg, Wasseramt, and Egerkingen. This allows for better utilization of regional potential.

KST represents cantonal and regional interests in umbrella organizations with the same or similar objectives, notably Switzerland Tourism and the Swiss Tourism Federation. To achieve its goals, KST collaborates with regional tourism organizations and cantonal authorities.
