Waldegg Castle

Waldegg Castle is a place with a glorious history. It is located in the recreational area surrounding the city of Solothurn. The castle was built by the patrician von Beseval family in the 17th century as a summer residence, complete with a magnificent Baroque garden, an orangery, and a kitchen garden.

The castle houses a museum that offers a glimpse into Solothurn’s heyday, when the city on the Aare River served as the seat of the French king’s ambassadors.
